Do You Respect Your Time? Tips to Staying Productive

Are you constantly getting interrupted during the day and find yourself constantly engaged and then distracted when working on projects.  Stop the madness!  You need to respect your time so that others will do the same.  Here are some tips for staying productive.

My Personal Tips to Staying Productive Throughout the Day

Check out the tips and strategies I use daily to maximize my time. If staying productive is your goal these will help!

1. Don’t keep your email open

If you want to be pulled away from your work, then leave your email open.  I get hundreds of emails every day.  And if I stopped each time a new email came in, I’d never get anything done and I wouldn’t be able to continue staying productive with my day.  Close down your email when you are working and only set aside a certain amount of time each day to respond to emails.  Respect your time and focus on the things that are in front of you and pressing.  Staying productive is about maintaining your focus.  That email about the fart joke isn’t going to help you keep your project deadlines.

2. Turn your phone on “do not disturb” mode

I started doing this a few months ago and it has worked amazingly for staying productive.  I bypassed my family and a few critical people within my business, but other than that, my phone doesn’t ding, buzz, or ring at all during the day.  Not even my iWatch makes a peep.  If someone wants to speak with you on the phone, they need to respect your time and schedule a call.  With all of the junk calls, solicitation, and worthless “what are you up to” calls, I’d never get anything done and would have my phone at my ear all day.  Staying productive is about cutting out the noise and distractions.

3. Be anti-social (media)

There is nothing more time-sucking than social media.  You fall down the rabbit hole of looking at what everyone in your feed is doing.  Before you know it, you’re looking at pictures of kittens on Instagram and getting absolutely nothing done.  Disconnect.  In fact, make it a priority that you will NOT go on social media at all during the day unless it is business related and you are scheduling posts to launch.  Don’t even respond to comments during the day.  Put time aside later in the day for responding to comments.  Staying productive should be your main priority.  Respect your time and don’t allow social media to waste your productive day.

RESPECT YOUR TIME! CONTINUE STAYING PRODUCTIVE!

At the end of the day, you only get 24 hours.  So why wouldn’t you want to respect your time by being 100% focused and dialed into your work?  Don’t allow others to dictate what your day looks like by interrupting and shrinking your time to be productive.  Close your office door, do whatever it takes to preserve and respect your time.  When you do, you’ll be able to lay your head on your pillow at night feeling satisfied with all you accomplished during the day.
