Quest Protein Cookie Review: Worth a Try or Waste of Money?

I’ll give it to Quest, they are definitely innovative with their products.  They were the first to market on a somewhat “healthy” protein bar.  They launched their own line of protein powders.  Have protein chips that are extremely innovative.  And now a Quest Protein Cookie.  Is the Quest Protein Cookie a hero or a zero?  I’m about to share my opinion with you in this Quest Protein Cookie review.

I’ve tried just about every protein bar on the planet during my time in the industry (over a decade).  I’m used to consuming bars from a brand that I used to work for (MET-Rx, Pure Protein, Balance Bar).  Honestly, I thought they were some of the best bars on the market, but there are many brands launching delicious bars these days.  Some of these best bars are coming from and being manufactured by Bakery Barn out of Pittsburgh, PA.

I’m always looking for something new on the market and since I haven’t given the Quest Protein Cookie a try, I decided to pick one up from my local supplement store.  I grabbed the peanut butter flavored cookie since I’m a huge fan of soft peanut butter cookies.  The Quest Protein Cookie also comes in chocolate chip, double chocolate chip, and oatmeal raisin.  The label claims it is soft and chewy (and I’d tend to agree with that statement).

The Quest Protein Cookie as a whole was a decent size and I’d say it somewhat curbed my hunger.  If I had something else in front of me when I was done eating the cookie I probably would have downed that too.

The macros on the bar aren’t bad for what it is.  For the entire Quest Protein Cookie you’re looking at:

  • 250 calories
  • 17g fat
  • 18g carbs
  • 15g protein
  • 2g sugar
  • 9g fiber

I don’t think those macros are bad at all, but only you know if these would fit into your personal macros for the day (they did mine).

How did it taste?  This is probably what you have been waiting for.  I’m not going to lie, I expected it to be better than it was — but it wasn’t bad.  The initial bite I took had an awful aftertaste, but after that, the bar got better with each bite.  By the end, either my brain was playing tricks on me or the flavor finally revealed itself as the Quest Protein Cookie actually had the taste of a peanut butter cookie (speaking of cookies, you should try this cookie recipe).

While I wasn’t left looking for a glass of milk, the Quest Protein Cookie did intrigue me enough to want to go out and try a few of their other flavors.  Would I recommend this product?  I wouldn’t tell you to drop everything and go buy it immediately, but if you wanted to try something different than the normal protein bar or nutrition bar, then go ahead and pick them up.  Are they something I’d want to have on hand and eat regularly?  Honestly, no.  I wouldn’t say they were THAT good.  But, they are great for mixing things up if you get tired of eating the same bar day in and day out.

If the Quest Protein Cookie is something you are interested in trying, I’d recommend getting the variety pack to see which flavor you like best before investing in an entire box of them.  I hope you enjoyed this review.  If you did, please consider sharing it on your social media to help others with their decision on whether or not to try this protein cookie.
