Brand’s Nutrition Facts: Stop the Ridiculous Serving Sizes

This blog post is impromptu… But, I can’t sit here and not say how ridiculous brands are.  Look, consumers aren’t stupid, yet when brand’s come up with their nutrition facts on their labels, they must think we all share a brain.  So, here’s my call to arms.

Your Nutrition Facts Are WHACK

Yea, I said it.  WHACK!  Brands must think we are a bunch of bobble heads and eat Crayons all day long.  If a brand is producing (let’s say) a 12 ounce bottled beverage, do they not think we aren’t thinking about consuming the entire bottle at one sitting?  You look at the nutrition facts on the label and it shows a serving size of 1.5.  Are you serious?  Sure, let me take two sips of the drink and then put it away because that serving has 27 grams of carbohydrates.

Now, don’t get me wrong.  I’m sure there are people who don’t look at the nutrition facts on products.  And honestly, shame on them.  Or if they do, they don’t look at the serving size and ASSUME the entire bottle or bag is one serving.  ENOUGH ALREADY!

Quit being a momo and if your producing a product in a bottle (or any type of packaging) and it’s small enough to be considered by the normal population as one serving… MAKE THE NUTRITION FACTS FOR ONE SERVING!  This is why we have an obesity crisis on our hands here in America.  Sure, it’s the population’s fault for not reading nutrition facts and not exercising or eating a sensible diet, but it’s also the brand’s fault for being deceptive to hide a product that is high in sugars, fats, and carbohydrates.

It’s wishful thinking that we can all band together and boycott such practices and not purchase products like what I’m describing, but I know that won’t happen.  So, here’s my rally and cry… BE MORE AWARE of the nutrition facts on products you consume.  If you want to stop supporting these brands, then by all means please do so.  But, we need to be more proactive with our health.  Don’t just assume a 12 ounce bottle of a beverage is just one serving.  That cold-pressed watermelon juice you drink probably isn’t one serving.

I’d like to see some change in nutrition facts.  I think the FDA should step in and mandate some sort of regulation that if the contents of a product meet a certain criteria, the brand must sell it as one-serving.  Not 1.5.  Not 2.25.  ONE!

What are your thoughts on this?  Are you sick of reading nutrition facts just to see some tiny little bottle is some odd amount of servings like 1.5 or more?  I’d love to hear your feedback on this.  Feel free to email me or message me on social media.
