Run and Gun: SOE Belts Are a Game Changer

While not the normal health/fitness review, there are many people out there in the fitness industry who fully support the 2nd amendment and who choose to carry a firearm every day as part of their everyday carry (EDC) — personally, I am one of them. There are many people out there who this freaks out and who won’t respect a person’s choice to carry a firearm to protect not only themselves but those around them. I fully understand that this review will not appeal to the masses, but for those of you who this matters and who take their personal protection seriously, you’re in for a treat. Today, I’m talking about my favorite SOE belts. They aren’t your stylish belts, but they serve a purpose.

I’ve been doing business with SOE (Special Operations Equipment) for several years now and have purchased many of their products such as their SOE EDC belts, SOE duty belt, and SOE cobra belt. Their customer service is amazing, and the quality of their product is top notch. For the longest time, I was searching for a stiff belt to purchase that didn’t look all “tactical” when I wore it and when I found out John Willis at SOE had such a thing, I gladly handed over my credit card.

Disclaimer: If you decide to order from SOE, please be aware of the turnaround time. These SOE belts are made by hand. There’s no fancy production line that allows them to mass produce the items they sell. Therefore, wait patiently, and I promise you that you’ll be blown away with the final product when it arrives at your door.

SOE Belts

There are many different types of SOE belts you can purchase, but by far my favorite is the SOE EDC Low Profile Belt. When I’m not dressed in business attire where I wear a leather belt, I don one of my many SOE EDC Low Profile SOE belts. Yes, I said many. I have black, camo, and tan. Do I own other SOE belts? Indeed. I also have their SOE duty belt as well their SOE cobra belt. The reason why I like their SOE EDC Low Profile belt so much is that it’s minimalistic. While I have nothing against the cobra buckle variations, I simply like the fact that the SOE EDC belts go on and off (of pants) extremely easy and are VERY low profile.

The SOE EDC Low Profile Belt is a 1.5″ belt that features an ITW G-Hook which allows it to be extremely slim-line. The cost varies depending on the color of the belt you choose (and if you want an accent color stitching), but they start at $50 which I think is inexpensive for what you’re getting. Expect to wait 8-12 weeks for your belt to be made and shipped out to you. SOE belts are not only for folks like us, but SOE also works with military and law enforcement. Honestly, if I wasn’t already sold on their belts, that would have been a huge selling point. If it’s good enough for the men and women out there protecting us and our freedoms, it’s more than good enough for me.

Now, this isn’t your normal belt. Besides the G-Hook, it is incredibly stiff which allows the belt to stay rigid and not fold over while carrying your firearm and any other EDC items you choose to attach to your belt (such as a spare magazine, knife, medical equipment, etc.). Most belts when you secure them and hold them straight out in front of you, they will bend and sag — these belts maintain their shape and do not budge.

If you are in the market for a new belt and you carry a firearm, I cannot recommend SOE belts enough. From personal experience, their product is basically bomb-proof. I’ve been using and abusing the belts for years and I haven’t even had a thread come loose or tear (yet, I cannot say it won’t happen to you even though I’ve pretty much torture tested mine). I can’t speak highly enough about John Willis and his company. John has always been a stand-up guy and answered every email that I’ve sent him.

In fact, while I can’t say he will do this for everyone, he even emails me on occasion to see how my business is going and to see what I’m up to. I’ve NEVER had a business owner do that for me (and it’s certainly not expected). All of his products are made right here in the USA and I love supporting American-owned and operated businesses. If you’re in need of a belt, please consider giving SOE your business.
