What Lessons Has the COVID-19 Pandemic Taught Us?

This whole COVID-19 thing has taken the world by storm and is the hottest topic of discussion right now in just about every household. Why? Because it affects everyone and everything we do.  Heck, people are being told to stay at home. Don’t go to work. Practice social distancing. Wash your hands (like you shouldn’t already be doing that every day anyway).

But here are the real things we are learning from the COVID-19 pandemic. I’m going to preface this by saying if you’re a snowflake and don’t take responsibility for your own actions, reading this and being locked in your home is probably not good for your health and safety as it’s going to absolutely trigger you. That being said, what I lay out below is the cold hard truth that you need to fully understand, grasp, and hopefully change (as in, right now).

1.    You Didn’t Take Your Finances Seriously Enough

Remember thinking how cool you were when you were blowing money on all those bottles at the bar? That shiny new Rolex you decided to splurge on because you wanted to impress all the people on social media you don’t even know? Congrats. You probably faked your success until COVID-19 hit. Now, you’re royally screwed.

Currently, no one remembers all the crazy nights of you blowing money at the bar like a boss and that sweet luxurious Rolex you have on your wrist now only tells you how much time you’re wasting sitting on your couch with uncertainty how you’re going to keep money coming in to survive.

You should have thought things through and planned better. You should have taken your finances more seriously. You’re paying the consequences now for your poor planning.

2.    You Took Your Job for Granted

You used to laugh and tell all of your friends how simple your job was and how you do the bare minimum just to collect a paycheck. You would tell everyone that you punch in, goof around and talk with co-workers, grab a cup of coffee, do a few emails, sit through a few boring meetings that could have been emails, and then punch out and go home at the end of the day.

Now, thanks to COVID-19, you’re sitting at home either because your employer shut down or they completely went out of business. You didn’t improve your skills and you didn’t increase your value in the workplace. You took your job for granted and now it’s biting you in the ass. No one rewards complacency.

3.    You’re STILL Lazy

What are you doing right now? Probably sitting at home doing nothing, right? Maybe binge-watching shows on Netflix? Do you recall all the excuses you gave people as to why you couldn’t exercise? How “busy” your life was? How’s that working out for you? Exactly what excuse can you give today?

The fact that you aren’t looking at this time as an opportunity to get in better shape, drop some pounds, improve your immunity, and improve your overall quality of life shows just how lazy you really are. Just like NOT getting COVID-19 should be a priority, so should improving your health so you can better ward off illnesses and diseases.

Oh, and one more thing. I understand gyms are closed. That’s still not an excuse. You can do bodyweight exercises in the privacy of your own home and go for a walk outdoors. So, don’t even throw that excuse out there like we’re supposed to believe you have no means of getting in physical activity. Get up off your couch and MOVE.

4.    The Government Isn’t Going to Save You

For all of those people who never take responsibility for yourself and always think the government is going to be there to save you… how’s that working out for you? Are they sending you a weekly paycheck so you can survive? Are they protecting you from getting COVID-19? The answer… NO.

The fact of the matter is, you should have been putting the weight of your existence on your own shoulders. No one owes you anything. Your income lays in your hands. If you bust your balls to be the best at what you do, you get rewarded. If you prepare yourself for the event where someone wants to do you harm and you can protect yourself by any means necessary, bravo. Most people would use the “I’ll just call 911” excuse as if the police can show up faster than a bullet moving in your direction because someone wants to jack you for everything you have because they are desperate — car, money, watch, jacket, shoes, anything and everything they can get their hands on.

The government doesn’t care about you. They only care about your tax money and your votes. Stop thinking anything different.

5.    Those Preppers Aren’t So Dumb Now, Are They?

Look at those people stocking up on food, water, and ammo. What a bunch of weirdos! Do you remember saying that? Now COVID-19 hits and all those “preppers” don’t have a care in the world because they planned and prepared for such situations and events. They are riding it out without any stress and never need to leave their homes. Have you heard the saying, “I’d rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it” come out of anyone’s mouth? It’s the truth and it could save you.

You, on the other hand, are in an absolute panic because you don’t have toilet paper and all the stores are out of supplies and the food you like and want to eat. Probably should have thought things through better and planned for events that could change the way you live your life for a short period of time.
