How Do I Use the Vertx Everyday Fanny Pack 2.0?

When the original SOCP Tactical Fanny Pack came out, I jumped on it and bought it. After stuffing it with more stuff than what should probably be in there, it resembles a child’s backpack on my chest.

I’ve loaded the thing out with so much kit that I might as well just wear an actual backpack.

That said, I wanted something incredibly streamlined that I can’t load up. My objective was to have a fanny pack that I can wear as a crossbody bag and have it only be a couple of inches thick (even with a gun in it).

Mission accomplished with the Vertx Everyday Fanny Pack 2.0.

I should mention that if you’re looking at the various Vertx slings or fanny packs, I’d stay away from the Vertx SOCP Sling Tactical Fanny Pack (different from the “Tactical Fanny Pack” mentioned above). It’s so small that you can’t fit any sized gun in it. So, if you wanted to use it with your CCW, choose a different bag.

So, back to the original question of how I use the Vertx Everyday Fanny Pack 2.0. I use this as a bag I can toss on if I’m in gym shorts/sweatpants and running to grab food or errands. My goal is to have something slimline that I can move well in.

Typically, I only wear this fanny pack if I’m by myself. If my family is with me, I’m rocking the bigger Vertx Tactical Fanny Pack that has more medical in it.

But I don’t want to take away the capacity of the Vertx Everyday Fanny Pack 2.0. I have more than enough kit in it to tackle just about anything I encounter (aside from some sort of mass casualty event).

In my fanny pack, I added the Premier Body Armor panel (soft armor) that is specifically made for the fanny, and it works great and is very light. Is it a huge panel? No. But that’s not the goal. The panel is large enough to cover my heart and center mass (enough coverage to allow me to stay in the fight if need be).

The same section of the bag that holds my body armor, my holster, and Sig 365 attaches directly to the panel via Velcro.

There is a back (hidden pocket) that sits against my chest where I hold my wallet.

In the front pouch, it’s deceivingly roomy. I didn’t think I’d be able to put much in, but it allows me to carry a spare magazine, a Rite in the Rain pen, a small knife, a small flashlight, Snakestaff Systems ETQ, gauze, a Rite in the Rain tablet, and a pair of nitrile gloves.

Personally, I think that’s more than enough to carry when out and about on my own.
