Detach Beverage: Putting the Pieces of Recovery Together

About a month ago I was introduced to a new functional beverage from the brand Detach. The Detach beverage claims to help refresh, rehydrate, and refuel your body. It’s a 12oz bottle that is coconut water based and comes in 3 flavors — light citrus, pina colada, and blood orange.

While most beverages that fall into this category are geared more for fitness-minded individuals who use supplements, the direction of the Detach beverage is more for the mainstream population who is looking for a mix of flavor and function. This functional beverage is clean and natural with a light flavor. It delivers a boost of energy and with its added ingredients can help you feel your best while enhancing recovery.

What is a Functional Beverage?

Functional beverages like Detach beverage are a category of drinks that go beyond providing basic hydration and taste. They are formulated with additional ingredients that are intended to offer specific health benefits or address particular physiological needs. These added ingredients can include vitamins, minerals, herbs, botanical extracts, amino acids, and other bioactive compounds.

The goal of functional beverages is to provide consumers with more than just refreshment; they aim to contribute positively to their well-being. The added functional ingredients (like what’s found in Detach beverage) can target various aspects of health, such as energy enhancement, stress reduction, cognitive support, immune system boosting, digestive health, and more.

Examples of functional beverages include:

  1. Energy Drinks: These often contain caffeine, taurine, B-vitamins, and other ingredients aimed at providing a quick energy boost.
  2. Sports Drinks: Formulated with electrolytes like sodium, potassium, and magnesium to help replenish lost fluids and minerals during physical activity.
  3. Probiotic Beverages: These contain live beneficial bacteria (probiotics) that support gut health and digestion.
  4. Herbal Teas: Herbal infusions with ingredients like chamomile, peppermint, or ginger that are known for their soothing and calming effects.
  5. Cognitive Enhancement Drinks: Some beverages contain ingredients like nootropics, which are thought to enhance cognitive functions like focus and memory.
  6. Antioxidant Drinks: Beverages rich in antioxidants from sources like green tea, berries, or other plant-based ingredients, which can help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals.
  7. Sleep Aid Drinks: Formulated with ingredients like melatonin or valerian root that are believed to promote relaxation and aid in sleep.
  8. Beauty Beverages: Drinks infused with collagen, vitamins, and minerals that claim to improve skin health and appearance.

It’s important to note that while functional beverages like Detach beverage can offer potential benefits, it’s also crucial to be mindful of their ingredients, especially if you have any allergies, sensitivities, or existing health conditions. As the market for functional beverages has grown, so has the variety of products available, so you should always read labels and do your research before trying a new functional beverage.

Detach Beverage Ingredients:

Clearly, the most prominent ingredient, once you take a sip, is the organic coconut water. The flavor is light but it’s impossible to say you don’t taste the coconut water. Many people love coconut water for its naturally hydrating benefits. Also added to the Detach beverage (all of them) is purified sea salt. Sea salt is a natural electrolyte that helps support proper hydration levels. This is especially important for those who sweat during workouts or who are outside in the hot summer months and need something to rehydrate and supplies electrolytes to replenish what was lost via sweat.

The benefits of the ingredients don’t end there. The formula also includes beta-alanine, citrulline, and theanine. For those in the supplement world, you should know these ingredients very well. Beta-alanine is used to improve performance. Citrulline is used to improve cardiovascular functioning and capacity. Theanine is used to help improve focus as well as your mood. The dosages aren’t over the top so you won’t feel the tingling or jitters like you may from a pre-workout powder.

One last area of this Detach beverage we need to touch on is their superfood ingredients. As you know, superfoods are a hot trend over the last few years and this Detach beverage contains coconut nectar and wildflower honey which has the ability to provide the body with natural energy that won’t have you crash shortly after.

This product makes perfect sense for those who want to live a more active lifestyle and want to make sure they recover properly. Will this appeal to the hardcore lifter in the gym? Probably not, but at the same time that’s not their target demographic even though this product can certainly help them. This Detach beverage isn’t full of hype, over-the-top marketing, or BS (which I personally like).

My Final Thoughts

Overall, I really like this Detach beverage. It is definitely refreshing and has a great taste (all the flavors). The ingredients are clean and plant-based if you’re into that. It’s gluten, soy, and nut free and uses only organic and non-GMO ingredients.

I, personally, love this idea not only for those who live an active lifestyle or who exercise and want something to help stay energized, improve recovery, and stay hydrated, but I also see this being a fantastic beverage after a long afternoon being pounded by the sun and sweating in the summer heat while mowing the grass or playing with the kids. Maybe you’re on vacation at the beach and got pounded all day while lying in the sand and you get back to where you’re staying and sip on a nice Detach beverage. The ways to use this beverage are limitless and can fit any situation or lifestyle.

Would I recommend the Detach beverage? Definitely. Even if you aren’t a fan of coconut water, the flavor this beverage has may still be hit to your taste buds.
