Are Healthy Condiments Helpful for Weight Loss Success?

It’s my opinion that many people fail when it comes to weight loss simply because they don’t like eating “plain” food without the addition of sauces, condiments, seasonings, and syrup — essentially, the things that make food taste good. And honestly, I don’t blame them. If you are eating plain chicken breast fairly often along with a vegetable or even putting that chicken breast in a salad, it can be boring. Lately, I’ve been looking more and more into different ways to spruce up your meals without adding hardly any calories (if any at all) to a meal or even your morning coffee. Which raises the question if healthy condiments are actually helpful for weight loss success or just a gimmick? Should you use them when meal prepping?

Add Flavor Without the Fat Thanks to Healthy Condiments

Think about all of the things we put on our food — salad dressing, syrup, dips, spreads, creamers, sauces, spices, you name it. Sure, some of those things could be considered healthy condiments, but most aren’t anywhere close. I’ve found that brands like Walden Farms, Flavor God, Jordan’s Skinny Syrups, and Feast Mode Flavors are an amazing way to end the madness of bland foods when dieting. Let’s look at these low-calorie condiments a little closer, as I feel they bring a ton of value.

Walden Farms

Out of all the brands I’m mentioning in this article, Walden Farms is by far my favorite. And my opinion of Walden Farms is not because I feel they have the BEST product, it’s because they have EVERYTHING under the sun that can just about substitute all of your condiments.

Walden Farms could quite frankly be the king of healthy condiments. They have salad dressings, coffee creamers, syrups, dessert dips, vegetable and chip dips, BBQ sauces, Italian sauces, mayonnaises, fruit spreads, peanut spreads, ketchup, and cocktail sauce, to name a few. And all of them come in various flavors, which adds a ton of variety to what you can do with your protein and carb sources.

This brand promotes heavily that their products have no calories, fat, carbs, gluten, or sugars in their products. What does that mean for you? It means you have guilt-free flavor options for just about anything you want to eat or drink. I’ve been a huge fan of this brand for a while and have used many of their products, and I must say, they are a lifesaver when dieting and striving for weight loss success.

I will say this… buying Walden Farms products is going to hurt a little when you start using more and more of their products and notice how much you’re spending — their products are not cheap. But, if you really want to lose weight and consume delicious food without guilt, you get what you pay for. And with the wide variety of products they sell, you’ll quickly fill up your cupboard or pantry.

Flavor God

If you love seasonings, Flavor God has you covered. Their seasonings are gluten-free, MSG-free, dairy-free, soy-free, carb-free, fat-free, are low in sodium, and have zero calories. You can literally use their seasonings (even though I guess it’s technically not categorized as a healthy condiment since it’s a seasoning) on your chicken, steak, hamburgers, tacos, burritos, eggs, pasta, seafood, and vegetables.

When looking for herbs, spices, and seasoning, Flavor God is a good brand to check out.

Jordan’s Skinny Syrups

While Jordan’s Skinny Syrups are directed more at the female demographic, it can really be used by anyone. Their syrups can be used in coffee, protein shakes, cocktails (if you use their Skinny Mixes), and baking. They took things a step further by creating a whipped foam topping (like whipped cream), which is zero calories, sugar, and carbs, and can be added on top of beverages or on top of ice cream such as Halo Top if you were looking for a treat.

To be totally honest with you, would I choose Jordan’s Skinny Syrups over Walden Farms? No, I wouldn’t. But, I wanted to give you options so you can make the decision that is best for you and your situation.

Feast Mode Flavors

The last on our healthy condiments list, which is actually another seasoning is Feast Mode Flavors. Similar to Flavor God, Feast Mode Flavors is a brand dedicated to bringing you fantastic tasting seasonings to spruce up your dull and boring meals. Not only do they have seasonings for protein and carb sources (think along the lines of lunch and dinner), but they also have what they consider “sweet flavors” that are breakfast toppers, which I can only assume would go on something like a morning bowl of oatmeal.

Healthy Condiments Are a Great Way to Keep Your Sanity

Week after week of dieting can drive anyone insane. Skipping all the condiments, sauces, and unnecessary calories on meals is a great way to lose interest, binge on everything in sight, and lose sight of your weight loss goals. With the healthy condiments mentioned in this article, you can keep things fresh and new and constantly be changing up the flavors you use with your meals to keep you on track.
