Marcus Haley: The Comet’s Quest for “The O” Title

Below is an interview I did with IFBB Pro Bodybuilder Marcus Haley. Enjoy!

Marcus, many people already know who you are but for those who aren’t familiar with you or those who really don’t know where you have come from.  Let’s start by getting to know a little bit about your background and how you got into the sport of bodybuilding.  Who exactly is Marcus Haley?

Marcus Haley:  I have always been a fan of the sport since I was in foster homes as a young kid. I had a Mike Ashley poster that I carried with me all the time it kept me motivated to get my swole on. I did a lot of sports in high school but I was really good at football and track. So it was just a progression to the next level after college.

I saw some pictures of you 4 weeks out from the O and you looked like you could step on stage right there and then.  How do you feel being a couple weeks out now?

Marcus Haley:  I feel good at this point cause I haven’t had to do cardio for most of my prep as a result of being in shape early.

Do you feel like this is the best Marcus Haley anyone will see on stage?

Marcus Haley:  Yes I do!!!

No one trains not to win but where do you see yourself placing this year?

Marcus Haley:  Well at first we were hoping for a top ten but as we progressed George feels that I’m am better than that so he has set the bar quite high for us now.



What did your contest prep training program look like and did you train yourself or did you work with someone?  Can you give us a detailed look at the program you followed?

Marcus Haley:  My workload has been 5 days on 1 off and my workouts have been 10-12 rep range as far as a detailed thing I have to keep that to myself at this point, sorry bro.

You eat clean year round, but what changes have you made to your diet for this contest prep and can you fill us in on what some of your meals consist of?  Did you work with anyone to help dial in your diet for this show?

Marcus Haley:  My prep coach is George Farah. We kept carbs high but clean, also only cheated once per week this offseason.

What if any supplements have you used during your contest prep to help you achieve your tight, ripped look?

Marcus Haley:  I used a lot of MET-Rx Thermal crush and focus factor. Post workout I use MET-Rx 100% Whey after I trained with their Arsenal Training pack up to 4 times a day.



Did you hit any roadblocks during your prep for this show or has everything gone as planned?

Marcus Haley:  The leg that I hurt gets sore but I’m used to it now. The hardest part is the metal rod in my other leg. I still have a screw that I can feel with my fingers so at this stage it sticks out more and I bang it a lot!! The screw by my knee just grinds sometimes but I like it cause it lets me know I am alive

You definitely put on a show on stage and your routines are insane.  Do you have something that will blow the audience and judges away for this show?

Marcus Haley:  Well………. you’re gonna have to wait and see but I tell you all that you will remember the routine for a long time.

Is there anyone you would like to thank who helped you get to where you are today?

Marcus Haley:  Yes Theresa and Patrick of MET-Rx!! These two people have believed in me from day one and never stopped. I tell you what….. when it comes to treating an athlete good these two set the bar and broke the mold!!!! I also wanna thank George for getting my body back on track. He is a caring man and a great friend. My partner DJ for grinding with me every day. Last but not least my wife Tiffany for all she has had to go through to help me reach my dream……. love you boo!!
